Associate Scientist, Potency

SUMMARY

The Associate Scientist will work with other scientists to design, develop, and perform potency assays in support of process development, drug release, stability testing and characterization. Responsible for maintaining laboratory operations and consumables. In addition, this position will be responsible for processing and evaluating the data generated from such assays in compliance with Aptevo quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mammalian tissue culture and reagent preparation for use in assay work.
  • Ensure instruments/equipment are properly maintained for cGMP use.
  • Order and maintain laboratory supplies.
  • Develop potency assays to support R&D development.
  • Conduct potency assay qualification and write related documents (test methods, protocols, and reports) associated with qualification.
  • Perform routine stability and release potency assays both under R&D and cGMP compliance.
  • Process data generated from assays in compliance with Aptevo’s standards. Prepare high level scientific data presentations and study reports.
  • Communicate across group functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • BS degree in related field with 5 years of relevant experience, or MS degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience drafting and adhering to SOP’s.
  • Experience in method qualification and utilization of DOE.
  • Excellent tissue culture skills.
  • Experience developing cell-based assays with a focus on potency.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask across functional groups/experiments/projects to meet changing priorities.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate experimental procedures and results to peers and upper management.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Keen attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with GxP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Equivalent education and experience may substitute for stated requirement.s
