Summary:
Seagen is looking for a motivated Senior Research Associate to work in the Impurity Assays Group. In this role, primary responsibilities include development, qualification, and sample testing of robust methods for process-related impurities including host cell proteins (e.g. enzymes), Protein A leachate, residual DNA, glucan, growth factors, etc. This individual will also participate in analytical method and reagent transfer activities to internal or external teams and manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related disciplines, excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, experience collaborating on cross-functional teams, and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative manner.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Design and perform complex experiments, propose new experiments, and implement new ideas to characterize process-related impurities. Includes development and qualification of process-related impurity assays
- Initiate and complete work, followed by analysis and reduction of data to conclusions with minimal supervision. Design subsequent experiments upon interpretation of data.
- Take responsibility for long-term projects or for components within major projects.
- Support transfer of methods and reagents to internal or external teams and manufacturing facilities
- May contribute to regulatory submissions, patents, and publications.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more technical areas within functional area.
- Represent functional area and related functions on cross-functional teams.
- Present to department and to cross-functional teams. Actively participate in group discussions and author technical reports
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. (8+ years relevant industry experience) or M.S. (5+ years) degree in biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, or other life science
- Familiarity with process development for drug manufacturing
- Proficiency in plate-based assay development and troubleshooting, including ELISAs and enzyme assays
- Experience with gel electrophoresis and western blotting
- Experience in method qualification/validation
- Strong organizational skill and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to understand project scope and meet deliverable timelines
- Proactive communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of or experience with CMC activities in early or late phase setting
- Experience PCR methods for DNA quantitation
- Experience with lab automation technologies

The hiring pay range for this position is $94,000 - $122,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
