Summary:
The Conjugation Process Development group is seeking a Scientist with a strong background in process engineering to assist in the development of conjugation processes for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The Scientist provides technical and scientific leadership as subject matter expert (SME) relating to technology transfers, manufacturing processes, technical troubleshooting, process monitoring, and process optimization, supporting internal development and CMO’s to introduce robust manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate has a proven track record contributing to process engineering projects, displaying creativity, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and team leadership for conjugation process engineering tasks and initiatives across Seagen manufacturing sites
- Serves as primary conjugation SME for pre-IND and/or late-stage programs
- Identifies areas for process improvement and technology development and proposes solutions
- Demonstrates growing knowledge of other functional areas within Process Sciences
- Provide technical expertise in oversight of clinical and registrational manufacturing activities
- Prepare lab and pilot scale antibody drug conjugates
- Independently lead process development activities for antibody drug conjugate programs
- May support validation activities
- May plan and support process characterization activities
- Organize and present clear presentations of work at departmental and project meetings. May present at national/international forums
- May represent department on inter-departmental teams
- Author and review technical reports, manufacturing documents, regulatory submissions, and publications
- May supervise direct reports. Motivates and supports the career development and technical growth of direct reports. Regularly meets with, sets clear goals and expectations, and provides timely feedback to direct reports
Qualifications:
- Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry or related field B.S. and 10+ years; M.S. and 8+ years; Ph.D. and 0-3 years (may include post-doctoral experience)
- Experience with GMP manufacturing
- Familiarity with CMC team function
- Experience with technology transfer to manufacturing
- Good understanding of analytical protein characterization (HPLC, IEF, CE-SDS)
- Statistical software use, such as JMP
- Direct experience with antibody or protein modification
- Proficiency with tangential flow filtration

The hiring pay range for this position is $106,000 to $138,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
