Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Global Market Insights participates actively in Seattle Genetics’ commercial planning efforts by providing unbiased, objective, in-depth information about current and future markets, product performance, customers, and competitors. Through primary and secondary market research and commercial analysis, he or she identifies critical business issues and opportunities for growth. The Sr. Manager collaborates as a member of internal cross-functional project teams and works to embed an external market point-of-view into the strategic direction of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Support strategic decision making across functional areas including commercial and corporate leadership to help maximize Seattle Genetics’ commercial success.
  • Provide an objective commercial viewpoint based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of commercial information.
  • Partner with commercial colleagues, clinical development, business development, medical affairs, research, therapeutic area teams, finance, manufacturing, and others.
  • Monitor changes in market dynamics and competition. Provide recommendations on product differentiation strategies Build, pressure-test, and present sales forecasts for marketed product and pipeline products.
  • Perform new market opportunity assessments for Seattle Genetics research projects and external business development opportunities.
  • Successfully employ primary and secondary market research techniques to accomplish the above Collect and assess market data and identify the implications. Effectively present insights to leadership. Project examples include:
  • Quantitative market research to assess product market share and/ or potential future demand.
  • Analysis of multiple data sets to understand source of business.
  • Refining and maintaining clear and concise processes for reporting on business performance to commercial and corporate leadership.
  • Evaluation of target product profiles through qualitative market research with healthcare providers.
  • Using syndicated databases to assess market size, treatment patterns, and competitive landscape.

  • Understands the broader context and links market research findings to larger issues. Draws substantive conclusions from analyses. Identifies implications and next steps.
  • Uses rigorous logic and creative methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Formulates strategies and approaches which may fall outside historical norms.
  • Demonstrates persuasive written and verbal communication skills. Is effective in a variety of presentation settings, from one-on-one and small groups to review committees and senior management. Anticipates questions and presents compelling stories that are well-supported and complete.
  • Is comfortable working with senior management. Understands how senior managers think and make decisions; can speak their language and address their needs. Effective at selling ideas to senior executives.
  • Can deal with ambiguity and act without having the total picture. Effectively poses questions to collect information required for decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in business, public health or related field is preferred, with an undergraduate degree in science or business preferred.
  • Five to seven years of experience in healthcare industry. Experience in biotech/ pharmaceuticals and/or management consulting is preferred.
  • Experience developing and using Excel-based models and conducting quantitative analysis.
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical product development.
  • Oncology or Heme/Onc expertise is preferred, but not required.
